Respectable Sins

”Now why is it called a respectable sin? Because good people are guilty of it. People who would never rob or be dishonest. This sin is hard to isolate. Only those who commit the sin know they are doing it.”

Does anyone know what this sin is?

And does this sentence raise any red flags for you?

**Answer at end of post.

I ordered this book I saw on Shepherd’s Scrapbbook.

NIV    1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

NASB 1Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

2through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.

MESS 1 -2By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us—set us right with him, make us fit for him—we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that’s not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand—out in the wide open spaces of God’s grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise.

AMPL 1THEREFORE, SINCE we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

2Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.

KJV 1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

NLT 1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.

These verses, brought to you today by Romans chapter 5, promise so much…

*Through faith ~ we have Peace with God

*By faith ~ grace to stand, standing grace from God

*Rejoice in the hope of the glory of God, the coming of God or being with God eternally.

  1. I would have chosen greed or pride. But sins of omission work too.
